
The Cambridge Biomedical Campus combines world class research, patient care and medical education all in one campus. As well Addenbrooke’s being one of the country’s leading hospital with beautiful views there are also many benefits to working on the campus.
Food and Drink
There are many options to choose from when selecting what and where to eat on the campus.
Clinical School Café
The Clinical School building can be located over the road from the hospital concourse offering delicious hot and cold breakfast and lunch meals daily. Available for eat in and takeaway, the café also has outdoor seating. The Clinical School café is open from 8:30am until 3.00pm Monday to Friday and closed on weekends.
Facilities
- The café does not have its own car park but shares car parking facilities with the hospital.
- Seating area is available inside and outside of the building.
- Toilets are available inside the building.
- Wheelchair accessible.
Frank Lee Bar and Restaurant
Inside the Frank Lee Leisure and Fitness centre, Sta’s bar and restaurant serves beverages and hot and cold food prepared on site and of great value..

M&S is located in the concourse selling a verity of food and beverages including a bakery, fresh flowers, cards and gifts section.

For all food outlets in the concourse:
- The stores don’t have their own car park but share car parking facilities with the hospital.
- There is a bus stop within approximately 150m.
- No toilets or baby changing facilities.
- Self check out is available in some of the stores.

Amigos express is located in the concourse offering a wide range of products from food and drink to newspapers and painkillers.

Exercise
The Frank Lee Leisure and Fitness Centre
The Frank Lee Centre offers a wide range of leisure facilities to NHS and other employees who work on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. They have facilities such as a swimming pool, gymnasium, tennis and badminton courts.

Travel
The Biomedical Campus is located southeast of Cambridge City Centre There are many ways to travel to and from the Biomedical Campus such as walking, by car, cycling or by bus.
By Road
Cambridge University Hospital is well sign posted from most parts of Cambridge. If you are driving from outside Cambridge, there is easy access to the campus via Addenbrooke’s Road, signed from Junction 11 on the M11. Use of this road is restricted to those with legitimate business on campus. The post code for a sat nav is CB2 0QQ. Cambridge University Hospitals have direct links with most of the Cambridgeshire Park and Ride sites. This is a good option for those travelling by car and if your visit is going to last more than two hours. Visit Google maps for a personalised directions to our site if you are driving.
There are facilities for staff to be able to park on site but this is limited and are through prior arrangement.
By Bus
Nearly 60 buses run through the Biomedical Campus an hour on weekdays from both within the City Centre and beyond, though buses are less frequent outside working hours.

- There are buses available every 10 minutes Monday to Saturdays and up to every 15 minutes on Sundays.

Universal Bus
The Universal bus is a bus service for University students and staff which starts just outside Out Patients.
The Universal bus service links Eddington with West Cambridge, the city centre (Queens College/Silver Street), the railway station and the Cambridge Biomedical Campus (including Addenbrookes), running every 15 minutes Monday to Friday.
On Saturdays buses run every 20 minutes from Eddington via West Cambridge, the city centre (Queens College/Silver Street) to the railway station.
Sunday buses link Eddington via West Cambridge, the city centre (Queens College/Silver Street) to the railway station up to every 30 minutes.

Cambridgeshire Guided Busway
The Cambridge guided busway travels from Trumpington park and ride to the Biomedical Campus to the train station to the city centre and even further.
The guided busway stops at the following stops on the campus:
- Francis Crick Avenue (10 minute walk to main reception).
- Dame Mary Archer Way (5 minute walk to main reception or 1 minute to the Rosie Hospital).
- Outpatients (2 minute walk to main reception).
- Puddicombe Way (6 minute walk to main reception).
- Royal Papworth Hospital (6 minute walk to main reception).

By Train
Cambridge Railway station is located around 2 miles from the Biomedical Campus. There are many options to get to the campus from the station including walking (approx. 30 minutes), cycling (approx. 10 minutes) or bus routes (approx. 10 minutes). If you wanted to cycle, there is a path which runs parallel to the route the guided bus drives or cycling along Hills Road. If taking a bus is your option, from the station doors turn left and the bus stops are there. There are frequent bus stops and you can take a Guided Bus, a Green Park & Ride bus or a regular bus to Addenbrooke’s.
A or U bus, a green Babraham Road park and ride bus, Citi 1 or Citi 7 bus Tickets.
By Bike
The main road routes leading to the hospital, including Hills Road, Long Road, Trumpington Road and Addenbrooke’s Road all have dedicated cycles lanes, as well as off-road paths for some of their length.
Cycle to work scheme
The University Cycle to Work scheme encourages alternative travel and reduces our environmental impact. Not only does it reduce your carbon footprint, but also allows you to spread the cost of getting a new bike, save on Income Tax and National Insurance and increase your fitness.
Through the scheme you can:
- Spend at least £100 up to a maximum of £3000 on a new bike and/or safety equipment (i.e. lights, replacement parts etc).
- Spread the cost over a year and save on your Income Tax and National Insurance contributions.
- Choose from a wide range of partner stores across the UK and online.

Electric Bikes
As part of the University’s Environmental Sustainability Strategy, the School has taken up ownership of five electric pool bikes. The electric bikes form part of the central University’s bike pool scheme and can be used to travel between University sites throughout the day.
Anyone who wishes to use the bikes can register with the scheme by completing and submitting a user agreement. Your completed agreement form can either be handed in at the Clinical School reception desk or emailed to travel@admin.cam.ac.uk. You can then book out a bike via reception on 01223 336700 any time you need/want to travel around the city providing you have your own cycling helmet.

Paying for Parking
If you are a member of staff and have a parking space there are paying facilities in both the concourse and in car park 4 where you can top up up to the amount of £30 at a time. These are available 24 hours, 7 days a week. If there are any problems, contact the access office.
ATM
There is an ATM at Barclays bank and also one located in the concourse next to Costa Coffee which is operational 24 hours, 7 days a week.
Wellbeing
The Clinical School offers a range of Wellbeing activates and seminars which range from massages, yoga sessions, talks on various aspects of wellbeing including mental health, bike repairs and more.
