Emergency Childcare is the University’s new partner company for emergency back-up childcare for staff. The scheme enables employees to book an emergency nanny, nursery, or childminder across the UK with as little as 30 minutes notice.
As part of our commitment to wellbeing and supporting employees with caring responsibilities the School of Clinical Medicine are pleased to confirm that they will sponsor two sessions of emergency backup care per annum. One session equates to one day at a nursery, up to 10 hours at a childminder or holiday club, or up to 5 hours of a nanny or home carer.
While the University’s partnership with My Family Care has ended, employees who have a contract of employment with the University can register with the Emergency Childcare website and book backup care if required.
In the majority of emergency situations, such as a child’s or dependent’s illness, employees may wish to take time out of the workplace by requesting a period of leave as appropriate. However, there may be certain situations where planned meetings or events may still take place with access to backup care. Emergency Childcare can provide emergency or additional care for dependents to provide an alternative solution.
It is recommended that you register to the website before you may need to access the backup care service, so that any requests can be processed quickly. Ensure that you read the terms and conditions and familiarise yourself with the costs associated with service in advance of booking a session. Bookings must be paid for using your own credit/debit card, and you can download a receipt from the online system and request reimbursement via your usual expense claim process.
If you use all your sponsored sessions, or wish to book for personal reasons, you can still access the service using your own credit/debit card.
The backup care services offered by Emergency Childcare can facilitate access to a care solution to suit your situation with access to last minute nannies, nurseries and childminders. They can also help you source school holiday cover, with access activity filled holiday clubs nationwide, including virtual sessions.
