Mentoring is a professional relationship in which one person shares knowledge, skills and experience to assist another in progressing their personal and professional growth, and building their confidence. It should not be confused with counselling, neither is it a substitute for supervision or sponsorship. A mentor is a sounding board, someone to explore ideas with, an empathetic motivator who is able to encourage and empower the mentee to find ways of resolving issues and achieving their goals.
