The Home Office has announced that the ‘adjusted’ process for checking right to work remotely, which has been in place since March 2020, will continue until 5 April 2022.
We can therefore continue to accept scans/photos of documents in conjunction with verification by video call up to and including this date. Alternatively, international staff who have a digital status may wish to provide a ‘share code’ instead. Please see our guidance on undertaking online right to work checks. There will be no requirement to carry out retrospective checks on those who had a COVID-19 adjusted check between 30 March 2020 and 5 April 2022.
The deferment of the adjusted process end date will allow the Home Office to complete its review of the availability and suitability of specialist technology with the aim of developing a digital right to work check solution for everyone, including UK and Irish citizens. More information will be made available in due course.
