Welcome to the School of Clinical Medicine
You are joining a large, vibrant, creative and successful School. I want to thank you in advance for your future contribution – everybody is important to our overall achievements.
One thing I am keen to avoid is the School standing still. To that end, your ideas for any improvements or initiatives will always be welcome. You can share these with your immediate manager, your Head of Department or with me directly.
Please sign up to my Clinical School fortnightly newsletter to keep informed of the latest news and developments within the School.
I hope to meet you in person at one of our ‘New Starters’ Receptions, for which a separate invitation will be forthcoming.
I hope you will enjoy working here as much as I do!
With best wishes for your settling in period,
Patrick Maxwell
Regius Professor of Physic and Head of the School of Clinical Medicine

Your Induction
As a new joiner to the Clinical School, your induction will comprise of a number of different elements and your manager will be able to provide full information on what this will look like. You will be required to complete the University online induction module, essential online training modules, complete the new joiner induction checklist as well as complete your local induction set by your manager where you will get to meet your team and colleagues, understand more about your role and how that fits in to the wider department and University and understand more about your probation. The below pages give additional information for Clinical School staff. For any staff who will be working in a lab, you can view additional information on our lab induction webpages and clinical staff can view the clinical induction webpages. Academic staff can view the Academic Life at Cambridge Induction webpages. There are plenty of useful links at the bottom of this page also.
Feedback
We want everyone joining the Clinical School to have the best experience possible and as a new joiner, your feedback on your induction is important so that we can continually improve the induction experience for other new joiners. We would be grateful if all new joiners can complete a short survey on their induction experience after being at the Clinical School for three months. A copy of the survey can be found here.
