Mentoring
Mentoring is a relationship in which an individual supports a colleague, by sharing their professional knowledge and experiences, and utilising key skills and personal attributes to enable that colleague to achieve their goals. The relationship is focused on enabling the mentee to:
- Progress in their professional life/career
- Develop their skills, knowledge and capability
- Facilitate their personal and professional development so that the mentee is able to fulfil their potential.
The University has developed a helpful guide for both the mentor (or those considering becoming a mentor) and mentee, available here.
There are a number of mentoring schemes aimed at particular groups of staff.
