“Doing great work in a great place to work“
The University acknowledges the importance of continued learning and development in all roles, regardless of length of service. In recognition of this, there are a wide range of training courses available for University staff. Some of these are appropriate for all, and others are tailored for specific staff types (e.g. those with line management responsibilities). Most training courses are provided by the University’s Personal and Professional Development (PPD) service.
Staff are able to complete some training courses at their desks, with a wide range of self-taught online modules available. Examples include self-taught courses in Email Management, Time Management, and Project Management. Mandatory training courses which all staff need to complete during their induction and every three years are also available as self-taught modules (e.g. Equality & Diversity, Prevent, and Unconscious / Implicit Bias).
The PPD ‘Learn Online’ facility provides staff with additional resources including videos, quick tips, and interactive modules. These resources provide information on areas such as delegating work; giving feedback; leading change; leadership styles; negotiating; and coaching and mentoring.
